Windows Server 2003 – End of Life

We want to take a moment to remind you that as of July 14th, 2015, Windows Server 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft. As a reminder, Windows pushes out security patches for vulnerabilities that they find in their software. Microsoft supports their operating system for an extended period of time and with End of Life of 2003 now upon us they are no longer working on patching or updating this operating system. This does not mean your server will stop working or blow up, it simply means that if a vulnerability is known by bad guys within the Server 2003 software now is the time they will exploit it. An example of this is that Microsoft is pushing a Critical patch for a vulnerably associated with all web browsers on Windows Machines. Server 2003 machine will not enjoy the protection of this patch and will remain vulnerable to this zero day exploit; just like the rash of “zero days” that occurred 1 month after Windows XP expired last year. There is little to no protection F1 can provide to protect a server running Server 2003 against a zero day exploit. Over the last year, F1 Solutions has informed all of our clients of this end of life situation and has done its best prepare our clients and have moved many of you to newer versions of the server operating system. For those of you who have not had the time or budget to address this issue we encourage you to give it a second look. Your server is crucial to the day to day operating of your business and the link between you and your customers. Mission critical equipment like this should have as much protection as possible. As your proactive IT partners, we feel the need to remind you all of this event. If you have any questions or would like further information, please give us a call.
